Other Services

Mediation and Arbitration

In order to avoid major disputes and litigations, it is advisable to consider resolving disputes by mediation and arbitration, rather than costly litigation. The Middelburg Chamber can assist in this area.

Certificates of Origin

This is a printed document issued on the application of an exporter, in which an accredited Chamber of Commerce & Industry certifies the origin of goods.
When exporting locally produced products to various countries, a certificate of origin, confirming that the product has been manufactured in South Africa is required. Chambers of Commerce have been mandated by the Department of Trade and Industry to render this service.

Business Linkage Centre

The Business Linkage Centre was established in an endeavour to bridge the gap between corporate business and the small, medium and micro enterprises (SMMEs) which did not have access to tenders or the knowledge on how to submit tenders. The centre has extended its services to assist with other business needs including BBBEE Certificates, skills development, etc.

Any information that is relevant to any of our members is distributed via e-mail, fax, sms or by post.

Commissioner of Oaths

The Chamber offers the Commissioner of Oaths service free to its members as and when required.

Foreign Trade/Investment Enquiries

Several trade and investment enquiries are channelled through the Chamber office as well as through the SACOB Trade Division. There is a close relationship between SACOB and the Department of Trade and Industry. Through members' involvement in their local Chambers, they can be part of this relationship.

Internet Services

Internet services and e-mail facilities are available to members. Web design and website hosting form part of these services.

Networking - Local

Monthly networking evenings, known as the “Business Buzz”, are held to enable local business people to network and to promote their business. A business is given the opportunity to sponsor the evening and promote its products or services to other businesses. The business’s logo and slogan, together with a related message is put on the invitation which is sent out to all the members to ensure that the business gets full exposure.

Networking - National

Through the SACOB national structure, together with the various Chambers that belong to SACOB country wide, information and access to information is but a telephone call away. Chambers pride themselves on their local knowledge and will always go out of their way to assist with any reasonable query.

Monthly Newsletter

A newsletter is published on the last Friday of each month in the Middelburg Observer and on the official website. The newspaper has a readership of 11 000. The electronic version of the newsletter is also e-mailed to members (e-mail addresses must be registered at the Chamber). Readers are kept informed on relevant issues such as developments in industry, labour issues etc.

The Tourism Information Centre was opened to create a positive tourism image and environment that encourages the traveller to spend more time and money in the region, without detrimentally affecting the local culture or ecology.
